West Squad Wins Rain-Shortened All-Star Game

The 2008 East West All-Star game was called due to thunderstorms in the third quarter Saturday night.

The West Squad was leading 10-0 and declared the winner.

Drew Hareza (South Fayette/Old Dominion) kicked a 27-yard field goal in the first quarter, and Marvase Byrd (McKeesport/University of Akron) scampered 84 yards for a touchdown just before the half.

Gateway High School's Terry Smith served as West squad head coach.  The West has now won back to back East West All-Star games, though the East still leads the overall series, 5-3.
